Bem Vindo! Intro to May Day + Informational Links
Bem vindo!
Welcome to practices for the 2018 May Day Parade!! We're so glad you're playing with us!
If you're on this site, then you likely already know about our practices, which are being held in Ferguson Hall at the U of MN (Music building on the west bank), in room 95 down in the basement (just look/listen for all the drums). Rehearsals go fast, so please arrive as close to 7 pm as possible!!
- If you haven't already, please e-mail Katy Williams (mskatywilliams@gmail.com) so she can get you onto the official e-mail list, which will keep you informed of any updates, changes, or important information!
- During the parade, we will be playing a bunch of "breaks", all called by directors Tim and Pat O'Keefe.
To refresh your memory, or to practice between rehearsals, HERE is the link to our group's private playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGq_ygvyD0H7hiO_kZeAYrFbTxfdCJuNx - We march for the whole parade route, and it's often sunny. We usually wear red, orange, and yellow, since we generally march in the Labor section of the parade. If you'd like to see what to expect, here are a few photos from parades Past:
And here is what a practice from last year looked like:

If you came to practice and wanted to try out a different instrument, it's always okay to change up what you play -- but the sooner you come to practices, the more you'll be able to play with us, and the more confident you'll feel on the day of the May Day parade!!
